November 1- Inclement Center Opens
The IWC will be open from November 1, 2016 - April 1, 2017 in an effort to provide food and shelter for homeless individuals during times of extreme cold or inclement weather. We make the decision to open or close based on the National Weather Service and its prediction of whether or not the temperature will dip to 40 degrees and below and/or if there is snow/sleet/ice.
Volunteers are needed on those nights that the shelter is open to help greet clients, handout blankets and sheets, help with registration, and direct traffic to specific areas (bathrooms, beds, etc.). The IWC is located at 191 Calhoun Street, close to the Marionette theater near the River Walk off of Laurel Street. Most volunteers are needed between 5:30pm-7:45pm and 5:15am-7:15am. Click on https://www.eventbrite.com/e/inclement-weather-center-volunteers-tickets-14203183103 to volunteer.
