Transitions clients have chance to work in new YMCA location

With the opening of the new YMCA in downtown Columbia, there are new employment opportunities for those in need of work.

The Transitions Homeless Recovery Center has worked out an arrangement with management at the new Y. Clients of the center will be picking up towels and moving them to Transitions for cleaning and drying.

“We’re trying to make them more marketable and get them a higher paying job out in the community so they can maintain their own housing,” said Transitions CEO Craig Currey.

Directors of the program said it will give those involved a small paycheck and provide valuable work experience they can use in applying for other jobs.
